Sorry Ma Tattoo is a brilliant example of how passion and word of mouth can build an incredible business. Born out of a lockdown hobby to escape the retail grind, the studio has grown rapidly. Moving from a humble start to Harolds Cross and finally settling in Kimmage, Dublin 12, this shop has established a firm root in the local community. For this project, Burke Creative Media stepped in to capture the raw, authentic story behind their unique name and their massive local success.
During the shoot, we really wanted to focus on what makes this studio different. It is an entirely ego free zone where the focus is pure creativity and good vibes. Through a relaxed interview setup, we highlighted their diverse roster of resident and guest artists, from traditional styles to stick and poke specialists. We also made sure to capture plenty of B roll showing the beautiful local Irish art they display on their walls, which really adds to the welcoming atmosphere of the space.
A standard promo simply would not do justice to a story that started just for the crack and evolved into a bustling full time studio. By using a mini documentary format, we allowed the founder to tell their own story in their own words. Our camera work focused on the intricate details of the tattooing process, the interaction between the young artists, and the welcoming environment they have cultivated. The final cut is a true reflection of the shop itself, authentic, creative, and full of character.
